Have you ever lost weight, gotten a new haircut, bought a new blouse, gotten a makeover — and nobody noticed?
Maybe you went to a party and a few, really close people, said “I like the change!” But most poeple didn’t notice a thing unless you walked up to them and said, “Hey, I just [fill in the blank]. What do you think?” That’s when they said, “Wow! I knew something was different!”
The same thing happens in our businesses. You can change your logo, improve your on-time delivery, increase your staff, move your headquarters — whatever. The results will be the same:
Few people will notice a change on their own.
Some people will think they notice something, but they’re not sure.
Most people will be oblivious.
So, what should you do? Simple. Don’t wait around and hope someone notices your improvements — tell them about it! Shout it from the rooftops! Point it out on your website! Send a customer letter!
Because the truth is your competition has a loud voice and they’re not particularly humble.
